Attracting Pollinators to Be Subject of June Montgomery Botanical Gardens Class

Montgomery Botanical Gardens at Oak Park will offer a class in attracting pollinators in the garden for its June presentation. The class, to be held on Saturday, June 8 at 10:00 AM in the Wisdom Woods Outdoor Classroom, will be taught by Sonya Moore, Master Gardener.

Mrs. Moore, a Prattville resident since 1985, retired from the State of Alabama and decided to fulfill a longtime dream of becoming a Master Gardener. She has since been named Autauga Master Gardener Association Gardener of the Year for 2022.

Love of gardening has been enhanced by Mrs. Moore’s passion for the beauty and wonder of butterflies. She loves watching the newly hatched caterpillars turn into adult butterflies, and she believes butterflies to be messengers sent from God. The class will include a butterfly release.

The pollinator class is free and open to the public. Seating is provided, but participants may wish to bring a folding chair. Water will be provided. Participants are encouraged to take time before or after the class to visit the three Green Bridges Pollinator gardens in MBG.
