The Montgomery Botanical Gardens at Oak Park is proud to announce that our president, Dr. Tyna D. Davis has been chosen by This is Alabama and Birmingham Magazine as an Awardee and Honoree for the 2019 This is Alabama and Birmingham Magazine’s Women Who Shape the State recognition program.
The program recognizes women from around the state who are contributing to their communities and setting an example with their efforts. Among her many contributions and accomplishments, Dr. Davis is being recognized for her leadership during the establishment and revitalization of the Montgomery Botanical Gardens at Oak Park.
Dr. Davis will be featured in the November issue of This is Alabama and Birmingham Magazine and will be honored at the annual awards luncheon on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at The Club in Birmingham.
We are so proud of Tyna and her many accomplishments. Under her leadership this year, the Montgomery Botanical Gardens has hosted over twelve tours and educational offerings during the American Public Garden Association’s National Public Garden Week in May. We have built with the leadership of an Eagle Scout an educational outdoor classroom for classes that we began holding monthly in August. Some of the tours and classes include: bird watching, tree identification, tomato growing, container planting, nature photography and fall gardening.
In August, the Haardt lions were installed in the gardens adding an historical element to the garden.
