Don’t Delay Your Fall Visit to the Montgomery Botanical Gardens

Don’t delay your Fall visit to the gardens or you will miss the brightly colored displays. The fleeting beauty in the gardens of the fall season is magnificent to behold. From the delicate blossoms of the Snapdragons at the entrance, to the hardy, bright orange Marigolds along the pathway, to the frilly purple, blue and red Salvia in the Daylily and Companion Garden, the eye is flooded with color.

The many trees in the gardens display their seasonal colors that will only last a short while. The huge old Gingko trees show off their golden yellow shower of leaves. Dogwoods stretch their limbs loaded with deep red leaves. Crepe Myrtle trees are in stages of displaying many colored leaves as well as limbs of died seed pod berries. Yellow leaves on the Hickory trees are a striking contrast to many stately evergreen oaks. Sweetgum and Maples also contribute to the virtual rainbow of fall color.

Even the stems holding the dried seed balls of the Rudbeckia plants are attractive. The Japanese Maple Garden is a young garden with small trees, but many are showing their variety of colored leaves already. But a favorite this time of year are the varieties of Sasanqua Camellias that are blooming in shades of deep pink and reds in the garden. The last of the Lantana blooms and Astor blooms remain a while in the Pollinator Gardens. The white Starlite Encore Azaleas have been blooming along both sides of the entrance.

So don’t wait until the colorful displays are gone. Take a friend, visit the gardens and enjoy nature’s beauty in the fall.
