Delta Sigma Theta Sorority wins the Montgomery Botanical Gardens first Peace and Joy Contest


On Tuesday, December 17 the Montgomery Botanical Gardens at Oak Park had Cookies and Cider to announce the winners of the first Peace and Joy Contest in the garden. Three judges submitted their results on originality, best representation of the theme and beauty. The second portion of the voting was for the public who went online and voted $1 each for their favorite exhibit.
MBG Board President Dr. Tyna Davis announced the winners.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. won first place winning both the judges vote and the online voting. President Cassandra Brown accepted the plaque for them. Their exhibit was an angel spreading peace and joy.

CARATS came in second place with their exhibit of a dog spreading Joy at the mailbox. President Cathy Wright accepted the second place trophy for them.

Day Street Baptist Missionary Church received third place with their joyful snowman. Church member Lillie Grant was on hand to accept the award for them.

First Baptist Church received the honorable mention award with their Peace and Joy Christmas trees. Cathy Wright accepted the award for them.

The Montgomery Botanical Gardens appreciates these community leaders and organizations for participating in our Peace and Joy contest. Please come to the garden and see our holiday decorations and exhibits. They will be on display until December 22.
