Tomatoes for everyone

The Montgomery Botanical Gardens at Oak Park hosted a free tomato growing demonstration during National Public Garden Week.  Board member Dr. Elijah Pugh led the discussion.

Everyone that attended Dr. Elijah Pugh’s Tomato Growing Demonstration took home at least 2 or 3 different types of tomatoes.  Dr. Pugh and the attendees discussed their different tomatoes and what to look for when buying tomatoes.  Dr. Pugh handed out seeds of 27 different varieties.  As a recently retired chemistry professor, Dr. Pugh was able to offer insight on chemical composition of fertilizer.

If you would like to attend the Montgomery Botanical Gardens future educational offerings, please consider a membership which starts at $25 per year.
